Most everybody loves cheese and it is a versatile food that can be in combination with other foods, as an additive to main meals and even by itself. There are some foods like wine and apples that cheese goes extremely well with but it can basically be eaten with anything and enhances almost any dash or a meal.


Cheese comes in many different flavors and consistencies. Soft cheeses are great for spreading on breads and crackers. Harder cheeses can be cut up and served with grapes, crackers and even wages of Apple. Curd cheeses are becoming quite popular and you can find cottage cheese in the grocery store with all different flavors for any taste. Cheese flavors can range from mild to sharp and are mostly tangy and run a full range of tastes that are sure to please any taste bud.


Cheese can be made from any type of milk at the most popular are cow and goat milk cheeses. Cheese making, is a rewarding hobby and is comparable to making your own wine or beer. While making cheese can be a complicated process there are some types like cottage cheese that are actually quite easy to make writing your own kitchen and don’t require any fancy equipments are starter blends.


Here’s a quick recipe to make your own cottage cheese at home.


1. Heat 1 gallon of 2% milk until it reaches 190°F


2. Add one half cup vinegar


3. Let the vinegar and milk mixture cool


This will result in a curdled mixture that consists of curds and whey. Separate out the curds by putting it in a colander or strainer. You may want to line it with cheese cloth or coffee filters to keep any small curds from escaping.


Add salt and other spices to taste. Some things that taste great went to cottage cheese include garlic, black pepper, onions and even pineapples.


You can make other types of cheese at home as well but these require starter mixtures and a little bit more work. But if you love cheese anyone experience your own home made cheese this might be a great hobby that is worth the time and investment.
